During the manufacturing process, impurities are removed from the raw feedstocks, which are then hydrotreated to break down existing molecules and build them up again to create a consistent carbon chain without the impurities found in traditional diesel or biofuels.
HVO is a drop-in alternative to traditional diesel that can be used without any modification to diesel engines or machinery and can be safely mixed with mineral diesel. Being a drop-in alternative also means there is no need to replace or invest in extra fuel storage facilities, as it can be stored in the same tank as traditional diesel.
HVO meets both EN15940 standards and Fuel Quality Directive
2009/30/EC Annex II and has been approved for use in many heavy-duty vehicles.
