Originally known as Chandlers Oil & Gas, we began as a small independent business, offering everything from tin tacks to combine harvesters. Over time, we've evolved into a leading supplier of fuel and lubricants, but our unwavering commitment to exceptional customer service remains. The iconic "Chandlers Oil and Gas" jingle, once a staple on Lincs FM, will still be remembered by many of our long-standing customers.
In 2012, WCF Ltd acquired us, leading to our rebranding as WCF Chandlers. This change also marked our transition to an employee-owned company, reflecting our commitment to both our team and our customers. Our employees aren't just staff, they're owners who take pride in delivering award-winning service and support. This employee ownership model fosters a deep sense of responsibility and dedication, ensuring every customer interaction is handled with the utmost care.
West Cumberland Agricultural Co-Operative Society Limited was established at Queen St, Whitehaven when a small group of farmers grouped to improve the quality of their seed, manure, feed, and fertiliser purchases and gain the benefits of buying in bulk. By 1959 the Society had 20 fuel tankers and 206 commercial vehicles, the name changed to WCF Ltd in 1986 to reflect the broad geographical coverage of the Society, whilst at the same time maintaining a clear link with its roots. Today, WCF Ltd operates in several sectors, including specialist distribution, and is proud to be partly owned by its employees.
